Hello, My Name is Kanoya, I am known as Noya and I'm The Founder, CEO and Master Hair Stylist at Noya Hair Care Salon. I am born and raised in the Chicagoland areas where I operate in my career and passion as a Cosmetologist.
As a little girl as young as 4 or 5 I recall assisting my mother with her hair as she would roller set or replace sewn wefts in the back of her head. Fast forward a little bit I began to style my own hair at about age 10 and from there I would begin to style my family's hair children and adults. Progressing to my friends and family and friends of my family all through my school years.
When I graduated Highschool I went to Cosmetology school in 1998 fulltime. I completed my recommended 1500 hours in 1999 maybe a couples months sooner as I would stay at school all day when I could.
I became really known for the neatness of my work and for the quickness of styling waves and updos and braiding styles. I was also highly recommended for most grey hair clients and younger children as I was told my patience and gentle touch was needed and in most cases hard to find.
Prior to graduation, I was introduced to a salon owner on Chicago's South side and had an interview with them and was immediately welcomed to their team as a Hair Stylist renting a chair/booth. As I had already formed a decent following,
starting out in this Salon I was fully booked each day and had a take home pay that allowed me to now take care of my own expenses as the age or 20.
Realizing that the traditional salon was not for me I begin to envision my own salon and began to freelance doing photoshoots, weddings, traveling all over Chicagoland areas taking the bus, until I purchased my first car a few years later.
While doing that I worked corporate America. Getting and Quitting some great positions just as quick. I worked and I was always behind the chair.
Once I was settled into my own apartment I created a space that I set up to do hair from. Looking back, I never had a day off I was in hustle and play mode all at the same time. I would get of from my job and go home a have a client to braid or do a quick updo or something, or would go to visit someone and end up doing their hair with whatever scraps that was available to do so. I was known for being the stylist to everyone so every event I attended if I was request to bring my travel kit to do someone's hair my entire visit would be giving consultations about their hair and how to best care for it.
I soon was tired of traveling all over Illinois with my kit so I moved into a bigger apartment and made my spare bedroom my hair salon and for years I did hair from my home. I later became a Mommy and decided that it was time to separate business from personal and just as I was having that thought a woman that had just open a salon was given my name as a referall to work in her newly opened salon. She sought me out and being persistent enough finally got me to join her team where I stayed for 11 months. My them 7 year old expressed that that I was preety much gone from home too much and wanted me home. So I quickly opened of my salon within Salons by Jc located in Boingbrook Il
